Finding The Right Kind Of Watch Battery

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009
Michelle Bery asked:

Keeping time nowadays can be done in a number of ways. From cell phones to computers to PDA’s, we have the accurate time right at our fingertips at any given moment. But for some, staying on schedule means the ownership of a wristwatch. And the maintenance of such a watch means the periodic replacement of the watch battery.

First introduced by Energizer in 1957, the watch battery revolutionized the way we powered our watches. No longer was it necessary to wind a watch in order to maintain its operation; the watch battery was the new face of timekeeping and the public responded by making battery-operated watches one of the most popular choices among consumers; manufacturers scrambled to keep pace.

Today, the watch battery is taken mostly for granted; its miniscule presence rarely noticed until it’s time to find a replacement. But luckily, finding a watch battery replacement is neither a pricey nor complicated procedure. For designer watches, it is always best to visit the manufacturer or an authorized dealer. For these particular brands of watches, corresponding parts are often found only through the manufacturer. In this way you can guarantee the consistency of high quality parts - including your watch battery.

For less expensive watches, a watch battery can be found in local retail stores or even in jewelry stores. They are extremely inexpensive and relatively easy to replace. Most important, however, is to ask about your watch’s battery needs when purchasing it. In this way you can be sure you know what to ask for and where to look when your watch battery needs replacing.

The added bonus of the watch battery is its ability to be used in other small pieces of equipment such as hearing aids, remote controls, and calculators - among other items. This can be extremely convenient when you need a quick and temporary watch battery replacement.

Why Demand is High for Genuine Breitling Watches

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Many men go weak at the knees when they spot a genuine Breitling on the wrist of a colleague or friend.

And it’s understandable.

These Swiss made watches are not just precise ways of keeping time. They are objects of beauty, and say something very specific about the wearer.

You should never buy a ‘replica’ Breitling over the internet.

Instead, if you can’t afford to buy new, they sometimes come up for sale at auctions of modern and antique watches.

There are two Breitlings in good condition coming up at the next wrist and pocket watches sale from auctioneer Fellows & Sons, on Monday 22nd October.

The company has been trading in Birmingham for 131 years: http://www.fellows.co.uk.

The two Breitling watches are:

Lot 9: An automatic Chronometre Navitimer wrist watch. The black dial has three silvered subsidiary dials, baton markers and the date in the 5 o’clock position. There are outer mph and km tracks and a bi-directional rotating bezel. The watch is fitted to a Breitling leather strap and pin buckle. It comes with case and papers, and is valued at £1,000 to £1,500.

Lot 88: A gentleman’s 1997 stainless steel automatic II wrist watch. It has a white dial with silver tone Arabic numerals and luminescent hands. The date appears in the 3 o’clock position. It has a steel Breitling bracelet with a flip lock clasp. The watch also comes with its presentation box, instruction book and warranty. Fellows have valued this watch between £300 and £400.

You can see all of the 472 items in the antique watches sale in the firm’s online catalogue: http://www.fellows.co.uk/ShowAuction.asp?sAuctionNumber=909.

And it accepts bids from across the world for all sales, including the antique watches, with online bidding: http://www.fellows.co.uk/home/Internet-Buying.asp.
